Maxine Beneba Clarke is a writer and slam poet of Afro-Caribbean descent.

her collection of poems Carrying the World was awarded the Victorian Prize for Poetry earlier this year.

Maxine’s writing has been published in numerous publications including Overland, The Age, Meanjin, The Saturday Paper and The Big Issue.

Her critically acclaimed short fiction collection Foreign Soil won the ABIA for Literary Fiction Book of the Year 2015, among many other awards.

Her children’s book The Patchwork Bike is shortlisted for the CBCA Picture Book of the Year.
