Robert Dessaix is unique, a raconteur with a style that mesmerises and amuses, intrigues and inspires.
Those who remember him on the now sorely missed Books and Writing on ABC Radio know how erudite and engaging he is, but it was his first book, A Mother’s Disgrace, that revealed to us his brilliance as a writer.
He has gone on to write travelogues, novels and memoir, all done in a style that leaps off the page in that fine voice of his, once heard never forgotten.
Robert’s new book is The Pleasures of Leisure, and he’s joined by the equally distinguished literary journalist Caroline Baum to talk about it. He will also deliver one of his brilliant talks, on why insincerity is so prevalent.
This is a festival pass event.
