Word Spot

The word spot program has reached capacity and we are no longer taking booking requests.

Schools that have submitted their booking requests will receive confirmation of their allocated sessions by Friday 28 June via email.

Word Spot is presented in partnership with La Trobe University and is a FREE school program designed especially for young audiences which each year kicks off Bendigo Writers Festival. It brings together some of the country's leading authors and illustrators to share their craft and experiences with school students from across the region.

In 2024, six sessions and a Bendigo Art Gallery experience will be offered and all age groups will be catered for.

In previous years we have welcomed Gabrielle Wang, Reece Carter, Ailsa Wild, Craig Silvey, Favell Parrett, Anna Ciddor, Chris Kennett, Nicolas Johnson, Sofie Laguna, Vanessa Len, CS Pacat, Glenda Millard, Doug Macleod, Craig Smith, Leigh Hobbs, Margo Lanagan, Patricia Mullins, Robin de Crespigny, Kate Forsyth, Christine Harris, Robert Hillman, Najaf Mazari, Ambelin Kwaymullina, Lorraine Marwood, Dianne Wolfer, John Marsden, Alice Pung, Bruce Whatley, Hazel Edwards, Susan Green, Adam Wallace, Andrew Cranna and many, many more.

WORD SPOT 2024 PROGRAM

What an exciting couple of weeks we have had!
Today our 2-6’s attended the Bendigo Writers Festival Word Spot sessions.
We heard from authors Craig Silvey and Ailsa Wild who entertained and engaged students in all things reading and writing.
A couple of our students were lucky enough to get their book Runt signed by Craig Silvey who was very generous with his time and they even got let into a secret and saw the dog who will play Runt in the upcoming movie!
