22. Feeding Marginalised Communities

  • The Capital 50 View Street Bendigo, VIC, 3550 Australia (map)

It takes a special type of person to choose a life fighting for the welfare of others.

Kon Karapanagiotidis OAM, CEO and Founder of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) has committed his life to advocating for the rights of people seeking asylum, refugees and indigenous Australians. He is a loud voice in the fight to end violence against women, and has established two Foodbanks as part of the ASRC offering.

Hana Assafiri is an advocate for empowering women in our community. She opened the iconic Moroccan Soup Bar in Fitzroy, which was a space for community to come together and a safe place for the women employed there.

This important discussion, hosted by Annabel Crabb, will focus on the challenges faced by the communities Kon and Hana help, the need for support and what a prosperous life can look like for those on the margins.

Please note this session has moved from Trades Hall to The Capital
