17. Tales as Old as Time

Kate Forsyth, award-winning author of Long-Lost Fairytales, Beauty in Thorns a reimagining of ‘Sleeping Beauty’, The Wild Girl the story of the forbidden romance behind the Grimm brothers’ fairy tales, and Bitter Greens a retelling of ‘Rapunzel’. Kate has also recently released Psykhe, the story of Psyche and Eros from the perspective of the women at its centre.

Sophie Masson AM is the author of more than 70 books including two collections of retold traditional French fairytales and medieval works, French Fairy Tales and Magical Tales from French Camelot and also a hybrid memoir/fiction book, Secrets of the Good-Fairy House.

Lorena Carrington is a photographic illustrator who has created the art for five books with Sophie and five books with Kate all related to fairytales, myths and spinning old stories into new tales. She was also the illustrator for Australian Fairytales for the 21st Century.

Sarah Mayor Cox will talk to Lorena, Sophie and Kate about the magic of myths and fairytales for readers of all ages and how authors and illustrators work together to bring old stories to life for new audiences.
