Carmel Bird
Carmel Bird is a much awarded and well-respected writer of both fiction and non-fiction. She has published novels, essays, anthologies and children's books.
Carmel is a past winner of the Patrick White Award for her novel Family Skeleton. Three of her other works were shortlisted for the Miles Franklin Award. Carmel has taught fiction at a host of Victorian Universities and has also published three manuals on how to write - Dear Writer, Writing the Story of Your Life and Dear Writer Revisited.
Carmel’s most recent fiction writing is a collection of stories called Love Letter to Lola published in 2023. Her memoir Telltale was published in 2022. Her latest picture book is Arabella, the story of a shy cat. Carmel lives in Castlemaine.
